  • Living with Grief

    We know that you and your family have experienced the death of a loved one within the last two years and live with the accompanying grief.   We know that it is important to continue to acknowledge the reality of this loss and to surround yourself with support through family, friends, communities of faith and through other resources.  
    As one of those resources, we want to extend an invitation to you for a “Living with Grief” meeting that will gather the first Tuesday afternoon of each month from 4-5:15 pm at Boulger Funeral Home.  You can come one time, or many times, or occasionally.  The time will be facilitated by Boulger Funeral Home’s Grief Support Coordinators.  
    Meetings will be held on Tuesday,May 7, 2013 at 4:00-5:15 PM and again at 6:00 PM.
    The next meetings will be May 7.

Marvin Siegert

Marvin passed away on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital at the age of 82.


Marvin LeRoy Siegert was born on December 22, 1929, the son of Otto and Emma (Jahnke) Siegert in Hillsboro. He was baptized at Immanuel Lutheran Church near Hillsboro, and later confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. Marvin grew up on the family farm near Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1947. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Korean War. Following his discharge he returned to North Dakota where he began farming with his father. Marvin was united in marriage to Mary Balkan on June 21, 1957. They made their home on the family farm where they raised their three children, Kari, Kurt and Jason. Mary died in May of 1976.


Marvin married Ruth Peterson Flieth in January of 1977 and they have lived in Hillsboro since. After many years farming, Marvin 'retired' but kept active helping out in any way possible. He loved his time away traveling throughout the country. He also loved fishing, playing cards, reading, and visiting with his family and many friends.


Marvin is survived by his wife, Ruth of Hillsboro; his children, Kari (Jim) Anderson of Pensacola, FL; Kurt Siegert of Sabin, MN; Jason (Corrie) Siegert of Hillsboro; his step children, Richard (Nettie) Flieth of Hillsboro; Russ (Patsy) Flieth of Council Bluffs, IA; Roger (Joni) Flieth of Mason City, IA; Betsy (Doug) Tate of Grandin, ND; Barb (Dave) Ferguson of Fargo; 21 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Elaine Sayre, Roselyn Jacobs, and MaryAnn (Richard) Remme; and several nieces and nephews.


Marvin was preceded in death by his parents; his stepsons, Ryan Flieth and Robert Allen Flieth; his brothers-in-law, Dave Sayre and Darrell Jacobs.
