West, Mary June (Lowe), age 81, died on June 8, 2012, in Fargo, North Dakota.

She was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.  Mary was born in Duluth, Minnesota, on November 20, 1930, to Earl Forrest Lowe, Jr., and Erma Marie (DelZotto) O’Brien.  She grew up in Duluth with her mother and Italian grandparents, Osvaldo DelZotto and Teresa (Gardonio) DelZotto. On October 18, 1952, she married Floyd E. West.  Mary devoted her life to raising their five daughters.  Mary was proud of her Italian heritage, was an excellent cook, and made the best spaghetti in the world.  She loved traveling with her girls, crafting, and quilting, and spending time with her friends and family.  Mary was a strong woman, who battled her disease with dignity.  She spent her last days with her family.  Mary’s husband, Floyd E. West, and her parents preceded her in death.  Mary is survived by her daughters, Patricia Rowe of Marietta, Georgia; Kathleen (Tom) Richard of Eagan, Minnesota; Terese (Glen Skarbakka) West of Wayzata, Minnesota; Mary (Tony) Krupich of Fargo, North Dakota; and Jean (Kio) West-Watanabe of Broomfield, Colorado; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A graveside service and burial will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.  Mary’s family is deeply grateful for the palliative care team at Sanford Hospital, South Campus, Fargo, for their care and comfort, as well as Sanford’s pulmonary rehabilitation staff for their support of individuals with end-stage lung disease.
