Jeanne Weaver, 88, passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Sanford Hospital Palliative Care, Fargo.


Jeanne V. Grand Pré was born on August 11, 1923 in Bottineau, North Dakota the daughter of Mae (Arneson) and Leo Grand Pré.  She graduated from high school in Mandan, North Dakota in 1941.  Jeanne graduated from St. Alexius School of Nursing in Bismarck, North Dakota in 1944.  She served as an officer in the Army Nurse Corps in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II.


Jeanne married Harlen “Butch” K. Weaver of Roanoke, Virginia in Honolulu, Hawaii on January 19, 1946.  They lived in Bowman, North Dakota and Dickinson, North Dakota until 1964 when they moved to Fargo.  Harlen died in 1990.


Jeanne worked in nursing in various capacities for over forty years.  She was employed by St. Luke’s Hospitals, now Sanford, for over twenty years.  She did volunteer work at St. Mary’s Cathedral and at Meritcare Roger Maris Cancer Center.  She was a resident of Sheyenne Crossing for the past 5 years.


She is survived by 2 sons, Dave (Peggy) and Timothy (Kim); daughter-in-law, Diana; 9 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.  Also surviving is one brother, Jim (Marilynn) Grand Pré of Denton, TX.


She is preceded in death by her parents, Mae and Leo Grand Pré; husband, Harlen; son, Donn; grandson, Terry; granddaughter, Debra Weaver; brother, Donn Grand Pré.


In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to a charity in Jeanne's memory.
